Energetic, infectious melodies, definately dancable, it is clear they've honed their chops on the bar circuit. The recording has a live feel to it making it easy to duplicate in concert. Vocally they are strongest when utilizing harmonies such as in the tracks "No Suspires","Acercate" and "No Te Olvidare". All songs are sung in spanish. Instrumentally they are a lively quartet occasionaly employing horns to accent songs. This could have been used a bit more thoughout the CD, in my opinion. Overall this is a solid CD great for driving, working out or anything lively and active. I look forward to a follow-up to this disc.

The alchemist
When I read "The Alchemist" it was like I was reading an inspirational
book or a parable that Jesus Christ told his followers. I liked the
book. It kept me focused whether than thinking of other things. I was
intrigued by this book because I never knew what was going to happen
next. The author used a lot of detailed description and I got into the
story. I liked how the author was basically telling the way of life:
not taking things for granted, always keep your head up high, and always
seek your "personal legend", as the book would call it. The boy,
Santiago, was seeking out his "personal legend" and along the way he was
touched by others and learned from them that he should never give up on
his hopes and dreams of the future. This inspired me to rethink my
life. I used to hold negative thoughts of dreams that I would like to
do that were "out of this world" but "The Alchemist" got me to think a
little bit. The author was trying to capture the reader and guide him
through his dreams and future. He basically said that you can do
anything if you just set your mind to it. No matter how far away that
treasure is, you must find it and dig it up. This was a tool that
inspired me. I enjoyed this book.
Born into Brothels: Photographs by the Children of Calcutta
Born into Brothels shows what can happen when children in desperate circumstances are given the opportunity to talk about their lives by making pictures. The pictures that the young people make provide evidence that a camera in the hands of a child can be an empowering device that provide the voice that they might otherwise not have. A powerful testament to the power of photographs and the power of pictures.
Magic 1400s-1950s
Magic has enchanted humankind for millennia, evoking terror, laughter, shock, and amazement. Once persecuted as heretics and sorcerers, magicians have always been conduits to a parallel universe of limitless possibility whether invoking spirits, reading minds, or inverting the laws of nature by sleight of hand. Long before science fiction, virtual realities, video games and the internet, the craft of magic was the most powerful fantasy world man had ever known. As the pioneers of special effects throughout history, magicians have never ceased to mystify us by making the impossible possible.
This book celebrates more than 500 years of the dazzling visual culture of the world s greatest magicians. Featuring over 1,000 rarely seen vintage posters, photographs, handbills, and engravings in one 650-page volume, it traces the history of magic as a performing art from the 1400s to the 1950s. Combining sensational images with lucid and incisive text, Magic explores the evolution of the magician s craft, from medieval street performers to the brilliant stage magicians who gave rise to cinematic special effects; from the 19th century s Golden Age of Magic to groundbreaking daredevils like Houdini and the early 20th century' vaudevillians.
As an avid collector of magic posters, this book left me speechless. The author (more like a curator) shot over 25,000 photos and culled the most visually interesting works of magic art from top collectors around the globe down to around a thousand images. Each picture is reproduced in the highest quality I have ever seen in an art book and the pages are of a size to allow every detail to be savored. Paired with the gorgeous imagery are a collection of essays that transcend typical magic history books by illuminating the art through a revealing narrative of the themes that evolved in the performance of magic.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Tales
A beatifully presented Hardcover edition of the collected short stories 'Tales of the Slayer' and 'Tales of the Vampire'. If you're a Buffy and Angel fan this book is a must have, it is written by the shows creator Joss Whedon as well as various writers from both series and comic book authors. The book devles deeper into the already dense mythology of Buffy's world telling stories of Slayers and Vampires throughout history. I already owned the paperback editions of 'Tales of the Slayer' and 'Tales of the Vampire' but this new Hardcover edition is definatelty worth getting; the presentation is gorgeous and really shows off the beautiful artwork. It also contains two brand new 'Tales of the Vampire' stories taking place in 'Buffy Season 8'.
I can only hope that Dark Horse treats us to Hardback editions of 'Buffy Season 8' and 'Fray' in the same vein to complete the collection.

... Ghostbusters... in Blu-ray!
I love this movie and I guess this is the best it's ever gonna look, the picture quality is a little grainy on some scenes but that is understandable. Looks better than the Superman - The Movie 1978 [Blu-ray transfer] Blu ray can either really bring new life to old titles or expose all the picture quality problem from an old movie. The special features are great, Dan Aykroyd is one smart dude! One thing about the shipping, the face of the ghost on the special Blu Ray packaging was cracked probably from shipping mishandling. The plastic packaging and the disc itself was unharmed. I recommend this!

Dead in the Family: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel
After enduring torture and the loss of loved ones during the brief but deadly Faery War, Sookie Stackhouse is hurt and she's angry. Just about the only bright spot in her life is the love she thinks she feels for vampire Eric Northman. But he's under scrutiny by the new Vampire King because of their relationship. And as the political implications of the Shifters coming out are beginning to be felt, Sookie's connection to the Shreveport pack draws her into the debate. Worst of all, though the door to Faery has been closed, there are still some Fae on the human side-and one of them is angry at Sookie. Very, very angry...
I would say that Charlaine wasn't joking when she said the title for this book was very apt. It is all about family. Blood families and packs alike. I liked how each corner of the Sookieverse gets a look in, and something about that family is developed - the humans, the fairies, the weres and the vampire families all get story time.
The Tenth Muse: My Life in Food
The title of this testament to one woman's appetite comes from Brillat-Savarin, who wrote of a 10th muse—Gasterea, goddess of the pleasures of taste. Many food writers would argue that this 10th muse is actually Judith Jones. For nearly half a century, Jones, an editor of literary fiction and a senior vice-president at Knopf, has served as midwife to some of the most culturally significant cookbooks of our time, introducing readers to newly discovered talents like Julia Child, Marcella Hazan, Madhur Jaffrey and Claudia Roden, to name but a few. In this quiet, spare memoir, set against the shifting landscape of modern cookery in America, Jones reveals herself to be every bit as evangelical about good food and honest cooking as her authors, locating the points where her relationships with these writer-gastronomes and her own gustatory education converged. She ran an illegal restaurant in Paris, learned from Julia Child to de-tendon a goose (a set of maneuvers involving a broomstick), received a tutorial in fresh-bagged squirrel from Edna Lewis and counted James Beard among her mentors. At the end, the book is tinged with sadness over the decline of serious home cooking and the current fixation on dishing up fast and easy mediocrities. But Jones's belief in the primordial importance of cooking well is ultimately inspiring, and it fires these pages as it has fired her life.
Happy Easter !!!
Stormtroopers in the alley!
Luv with rabbit.
He's my rabbit.
Nope, he don't have long ears.
Nope, he don't have fur (in fact, he had fur, but I work on it).
Yes, he's my rabbit for this third thang.
Black Hills by Dan Simmons
Hugo-winner Simmons, the author of such acclaimed space operas as Hyperion and Olympos as well as Drood, an intriguing riff on Dickens's unfinished last novel, displays the impressive breath of his imagination in this historical novel with a supernatural slant. In the author's retelling of Custer's last stand at the Little Big Horn in 1876, the dying general's ghost enters the body of Paha Sapa, a 10-year-old Sioux warrior who's able to see both the past and the future by touching people. The action leaps around in time to illustrate the arc of Sapa's life, but focuses on 1936, when, as a septuagenarian, he plots to blow up the monuments on Mount Rushmore in time for a visit to the site by FDR to atone for his role in constructing the stone likenesses. In his ability to create complex characters and pair them with suspenseful situations, Simmons stands almost unmatched among his contemporaries

This book was simply incredible. I laughed, I cried and I loved every word in this book. It's such a realistic story that can be read with ease. From the second I started reading this I did not want to put it down. I really can't describe in words how it made me feel, but once you read it I know you will feel it too. Nicholas Sparks is an amazing writer and definately knows how to get to your heart.
